Lack of Time Can Stall Climate Change Actions

I’m so busy that I haven’t had time to think about doing more for climate change.
— Anon.

Maybe you haven’t heard that said out loud but you wouldn’t be the only one thinking it.

[I’ve been there myself with no new posts since July. I’ve been “busy” making ongoing changes to the site, as regular readers may notice. I welcome feedback on the new look with a Comment below or through my Contact page.]

 I’m Too Busy

Crowded days are major obstacles even to choosing personal climate actions. So what can you do if you have a routine schedule that’s simply full and overflowing. (A nod to all of you who have both jobs paid jobs and kids here!)

There are several things you can do for the planet without adding big decisions or time commitments and still manage to get to bed at a reasonable hour.

1.   Donate. Give money you’re willing to part with. Internet search a well-known global group or my current favorite Ocean Cleanup. Take a minute to click carefully for one-time vs. monthly donations.

 2. Tell someone what you already do. Choose someone you trust to mention some climate action you’re already doing. Not as a guilt trip, not bragging, but simply sharing and taking time to appreciate the bit that you are doing. This kind of mention can be especially useful talking to kids who have climate worries or elders concerned about doing more for their grandkids.

3. Take a nature break. Wherever you can, when you’re stuck waiting and would normally go to your phone, take a nature break. Find a plant, animal, or any non-human life like the sky itself to focus on. Tune your brain to attend to its place in the world and what its contribution is in its own small way. Let such moments echo for when you do have time to choose climate actions.
